The other day I was reading an extract from chapter 36 of Stephen Dorril’s “MI6: Inside the Covert World of Her Majesty’s Secret Intelligence Service.” In this chapter we are told that in 1992 during the Yugoslavian conflict, MI6 had planned to assassinate President Slobodan Milosevic.

One of the methods of assassination they had considered was the staging of a fatal road accident. While driving through a motorway tunnel the driver of Milosevic’s car would be blinded by a bright light.

It suddenly crossed my mind isn’t this what some claimed happened the night Lady Diana was killed? Some eye witnesses claim to have seen a bright burst of light just before Diana’s car had entered the tunnel.

To finish the job however a second car would have been needed to have ‘nudged’ the target vehicle causing it to lose control.

This is what some have claimed to have happened with regard to the missing white Fiat Uno. White paint scuffed onto the side of Diana’s car proves that the two vehicles made contact.

Investigating police had a real job tracing both the car and its driver however when the driver was finally traced he committed suicide under mysterious circumstances.

In his book Stephen Dorril also tells us that immediately before she was tragically killed Lady Diana had indeed been under surveillance by the security services.

Do you know the type of threat would Diana have posed to the Crown to warrant M16?

I know the whole thing may sound slightly whimsical but then again why plan to assassinate Slobodan Milosevic or President Sadat?

Did they really pose that much of a threat?

I saw an interesting TV documentary the other day which cast doubt that Henri Paul was three times over the drink drive limit.

A scientific experiment was conducted in which a willing volunteer imbibed alcohol until measurably three times over the limit.

The subject had a problem getting into the car and needed help putting it into gear!

However on the night in question the video evidence did not suggest Paul was drunk. He easily swaps balance from one foot to the other and back again and is hardly tripping over himself.

You might want to read a copy of Noel Botham's "The Murder of Princess Diana".

According to the author the Royal Family and Prince Charles had plenty of reasons for wanting to see the back of Diana. Apparently she was deliberately causing an embarrassment to the Royals to get her own back for being exploited in a stale, "show" marriage to Charles when all the time Charles was having an affair with Camilla, his true love.

Diana expressed fears many times and to many people that she could be murdered and she even put it in writing before her death.
