Now high definition television is coming into its own and DRM (Digital Rights Management) and the ACTA negotiations - conducted in secret without the input of a democratic society - a conjunction which will effectively tie up media production and award it into the hands of the rich few, what does everyone feel about these technological restrictions?

Everyone takes the new digital age as a boon for mankind but with experiments done on subliminal programming even as early as in the 1950's and The Process being trialled in Canada in the 70's and 80's mankind is ripe for programming once again. I don't mean like the crude experiments showing a glass of Coke for a 1/1000th of a second in a cinema and the word 'Thirsty?' to stimulate purchases, nor do I mean the sort of day to day manipulation of the masses by the advertising moguls. Rather, we're talking about real, sinister forces who are using technology developed decades ago to literally program human minds.

The sort of research that Dr Marcel (http://serendip.brynmawr.edu/bb/neuro/neuro00/web2/Shrestha.html) was doing in the 70's and continued by Foffington and others. Things as simple as the design of malls, grocery stores and casinos designed to disorientate. And things like the real subliminal messaging in television advertising we are bombarded with all the time. This new, high definition technology is perfect for delivering all this.

Should we be rushing into this technological future with such happy smiles?
