View Full Version : The Watershed Event . . .

And I'll tell ya something else, my sis's & bro's: I remember joking that if they start expurgating Deity from the Constitution that it's time to pack your bags or load your weapons . . . thought it was a joke until it actually hit the news!
I see in the media overtures to what I call the Watershed Event. This is when people of certain religions (i.e. Christian) are banned from commerce or maybe even travel in certain states. Any Born-Again person traveling in Utah will know what I mean.
In fact, in Portland Oregon the police can detain you in total isolation for twenty-four hours: no phone calls, no visitors, etc. It is literally a suspension of civil rights during that time, and perfectly legal.
Another thing happening in certain places is the so-called "deprogramming" of religious members. Imagine the scenario in which a "concerned" family wants a daughter back from the "horrible superstitious brainwashing of the Jesus cult"? She could be taken against her will to a mental institution and be drugged and tortured into submission in order to "deprogram" her. This is what they do in red China, but at least they call a spade a spade!

Cor! I had a couple of crew-cutted jerks tell me "I've got a Sig-Sauer round with your name on it . . ." at a shopping mall once. They failed, however, to specify the exact ordnance they were using at the time. Personally, I prefer the wellbalanced models: http://remtek.com/arms/sig/model/228/228.htm

Sigs are the weapon of choice in quick-draw-need-for-accuracy situations!!

See, this is where I get stuck... To be righteous, must one not ever shed blood of another? Jesus said 'Donít worry about those who can kill your body, but Satan who can kill your soul'.
But then again, if someone tries to kill me, or my loved ones, is it wrong to defend? Maybe Im being TOO strict...
Im a practising martial artist, and I gotta say, it feels 'right' to be doing it. In Africa, the most common weapon used (apart from the AK47) is the panga machete, and so Im perfecting my long-knife technique. It doesnít feel wrong to be training myself for fatal combat, and usually, when Im doing something that I shouldnít, I know it in my heart.
If I had to resort to guns, well this is Africa, and illegal guns are cheaper than a Happymeal.
What is your opinion on the whole 'self defence thing'?
Im still not sure what to do, to be honest! :-?

SELF DEFENCE IS PARAMOUNT!

Dominio, with all due respect your Biblical views are FLAWED! When you study and learn the Christian views you have to read the old testament and new testament altogether, I'm no expert on the Bible, but It is a fact that God wants his people to LIVE and not perish, self defence is PARAMOUNT to your relationship with God, You have to survive and live to worship God right? I really think that it is your GOD Given Right to SURVIVE and live freely.

Every day I see the need for serious self defense. Here most seem to see nothing no matter what the most recent outrage. It is coming down to the individual defending themselves and their families. This is Biblical and right.

You guys are full of poop. Just turn the other cheek and let them kill you.. That will show them that you were morally superior the them... And don't worry about your children.. They will be blessed by your courage and Saintliness.. even though you are dead.... and can't support them.

Come on.. Become a "Real Christian".
Get ready to die.. for it is "The Real Life"... That awaits us on the glorious shores of eternity.

Don't defend yourselves.. Take the moral high ground.. Become a real Christian.

Dude! Chill. It evolves . . . IT'S ALIVE!!!

Self-defence? It's a complicated issue for most of us. Hollywood simplifies and glamourizes violence because it is part of their artistic bag of tricks.
But in real life, the best self-defence tactics in urban warfare are escape and evasion tactics. You will notice that in Jackie Chan videos, he will always turn and run when attacked if he can.
But as you say, LaD, there are times when you are confronted with deadly force with no escape.
There are also times when you know an attack might be imminent, so you make preparations. There is a scripture which says, "Take up your swords . . ." In Biblical times it was common to carry personal weapons, especially when travelling; I live in a city that has random violence almost every day, but I would prefer to learn combat tactics with an empty hand first.

AND: non-lethal weapons are getting better and better, too!

Oh, BTW, something germane to my watershed theory: http://paranormal.about.com/gi/dynamic/offsite.htm?site=http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/12084683/
So I guess they'll be telling us next that Mohammed was just a racist warmonger?

Well, some of the disinformation spread after Jesus' resurrection is still believed today . . .

James: So basically, youíre asking anybody who is a Christian to question their fundamental beliefs?

Baigent: Absolutely.

James: Some might call your position heresy.

Baigent: I should hope they would.

Man, things arenít improving, thats for sure. :-?

I thought, the day when pornography is legalized as an art form is going to be the signal that diabolical events are just over the hill.

Jesus may love porn stars, but publisher balks
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/12135006/

American Bible Society refuses to print New Testament with porn star cover.
Updated: 3:19 p.m. ET April 3, 2006
LOS ANGELES - The American Bible Society is refusing to print New Testaments with covers that say "Jesus Loves Porn Stars."

California pastors Mike Foster and Craig Gross, whose anti-porn ministry is called XXXchurch.com, had ordered 10,000 of the customized Bibles to hand out at adult film conventions.

But the edgy cover led the publisher to cancel the paid order.

The American Bible Society says that while it appreciates the pastors' mission, the words "Jesus Loves Porn Stars" are "misleading and inappropriate for a New Testament."

NO: they are not misleading, in my opinion; they show exactly what the New Covenant is all about. Think about who Jesus hung out with: " . . . publicans, and sinners, and prostitutes, . . .".
The implication is, of course, that it is irreverent to suggest a concrete example of the redeeming love of God. I disagree.
The only misleading element is the corruption of the word "love" to mean "Is fond of and approves what they do", or "Has a strong desire for them", or "Has sexual relations with them"; this is not really what the word LOVE means.
So, the semantic problem with the phrase is that some people might interpret it as tacit approval for sin, when in fact the true message is the impartial nature of Jesus' love - and a good lead-in for a deeper conversation about being "saved".

When it comes to self defense, it is okay to do what you have to do to protect your yourself and your family... however, guns are typically useless in this situation given various gun laws. If you think you can get to your gun from a locked cabinet or wherever, load it, and do all of this in enough time to defend yourself... more the power to you. This does not mean to start firing. You should have the gun on them with one hand and on the other the phone having dialed the authorities. You will know when your life is in danger. If you do pull off a shot, and claim to be a skilled marksman, aim for the leg to debilitate and not the chest. If you kill to protect your "material" possessions, perhaps you deserved to lose them.

I can hear the members of the NRA commenting already. I won't comment on them except to say that I wonder if they know the other amendments. Probably not.

It is never okay to kill someone... unless you or your loved ones are without questions threatened. A kill or be killed situation is not being robbed.

Hey wierdo, we are all "useless" to you so why don't you go find somewhere else to express your obvious mental condition. There are places you can go. There are others like you.
