View Full Version : The moon has been somewhat a curse

If one considers that the earliest of mankinds intellectuals, IE, the guy or woman that discovered fire, the wheel, collective gathering, law, agriculture, writing, ad naseum, too just recently, when we learned that the world was round, how much more intelligent mankind could have been, if the moon didn't always show the same face, it's easy to forgive mankinds haphazard climb too a better reasoning when such a stumbling block was before their eyes, since the moon was deffinately flat as a piece of china, and thus earth must also be likewise, our ancestors were blind by an unbelievable deception, that many scientist are still not comfortable with its many attributes that defy probability.
For those that wish to contend that God gave us the moon, so that we could have light, against all darkness, I wonder why it was so necessary that to give us this light, a trade off had to be made, that also kept us so indelibly ignorant for so long?

Your question sounds a little ambiguous. Please clarify. :-P

It was meant to be ambiguous, but thought provoking is what I put it out there for.

Okay smart ass, enlighten me. What the fuck does the moon have to do with ignorance? :-x

07-23-2005, 10:55 PM
and that shit about the curse too?

If we assume something for eons that proves to be false, do we truely know anything that has been so indelible in our lives?

the obvious answer is NO. But I guess you were expecting that. :-P

We must consider the effects that the moon has had on humanity, like the deer in the spotlight, we have all succumbed to its singularity, in effect moon madness would not be so intrinsic if it revolved and wasn't so hypnotising, an example to consider are the religions that arose to worship its glaring face, ages upon ages, and even now people were and are being saccrificed to pagan symbolysm, , if it were a revolving disc and a more somber tone of color, I believe that we would have been a greater race, more adjusted if you will, by this time in our history.

There is evidence to suggest that the Moon radiates its own light, rather than it being nothing more than a simple reflector of sunlight.

you forgot to mention the link suggests that the Moon doesnt have any relevance to the Tides.

you also forgot to mention that this guy probably is having an LSD "flashback".

These type of Threads are eronious and pointless.

Though I do understand what Spy is saying..yea..if civilization developed "velcro" eons earlier..then we could be timewarping by now too..

Basically there are alot of "things" humans could have understood that would have advanced the current civ....but..maybee we have and you dont know it :)

It still amazes me that the moon somehow has exactly the correct rotation to constantly present the same face to us.

No strings attached.
