As a follow up to my previous diary dealing with ways that the stimulus failed, here's a much more human-scale example of the partial consequences. nbsp;The state of California is one of the hardest hit by the recession, although not the hardest hit in terms of percentage. nbsp;There is something close to an all-out war on education going on in the state. nbsp;At Calitics presently there are recent posts by Brian Leubitz on the a href="http://www.calitics.com/diary/9401/arnold-trust-me-i-love-education" target=newbK-12/b/a and a href="http://www.calitics.com/diary/9410/csu-students-to-see-higher-fees-more-cuts" target=newbState University/b/a battles going on. nbsp;Most people outside California simply refuse to understand how screwed up our constitution is--a solid Democratic majority can't screw in a lightbulb in this state, due to our archaic, anti-democratic 2/3rds rule that makes the US Senate look like a frikken SDS meeting circa 1962.
