Exotic markings on US currency
Hey, dudes and dudettes, I've been noting a lot of unusual markings (rubber stamps, etc.) on large US bills, usually $100 and $50 bills. As an example, I have one in front of me that has the number "09-943085" and the words "hashim shaheen" in arabic. Other examples are: Chinese words (e.g. "crystal"), ornate seals in Urdu, and occult signs (e.g. letters of the witch's alphabet).
Has anyone else observed this, and if so, do you know the significance? |

Re: Exotic markings on US currency
I'd look at some currency now, but, unfortunately us poor folks don't carry around 50 or 100 bills!!
      I'd love to see it! |

I have seen those stamps. Weird stuff. Little letters inside triangles and things like that.

Re: Exotic markings on US currency
US dollars have been the medium of choice world wide for drugs and money laundering etc, maybe that's an explanation.

Hmmm . . . Well, I could scan the enlargements I have, but I don't know how to send them to y'all: any ideas? Also, I'm juss a po' boy long way from home, but my job puts the cash in my hands for a short time.
I used to think some markings are just proprietary, but if that is true, why would a company regularly deface currency? Also, some of the stamps, (Chinese "Good Luck"; zodiac signs) seem to be for luck or superstition, and thus are of little interest to me. |
