Teacher Fired For Being White
 

Hello all!

My name is Brandy Stokes and I am a former teacher at Brentwood
Middle School in Charleston, SC. I have been in all of the local news
media and recently took my story national on the Larry Elders Show
which will air this Monday, Nov. 1, at 12 noon.

Myself and several other teachers were fired because we are white
and now we cannot teach in the state of SC.

I had students calling me honkey, cracker, and several other vulgar
names too bad to mention. I also had a student sexually harass me and
climb through my window singing rap songs about raping a white b****.

I went to my principal and her response was that we had to accept
their behavior because it was their culture, she also rolled her eyes
at me and said "oh here we go again another white teacher trying to
bring these kids down."

I love teaching and I chose to teach because I quit school and
wanted to help prevent kids from making the same mistake that I did. I
have three small boys 5, 2, and 9 months and I am struggling so badly,
as I said, I can no longer teach the principal made it very clear to
me that she was going to "snowball" my career and that is just what
she has done. So here I sit wanting to take this horrid experience
that happened to me and turn it into something positive.

I am currently forming an advocacy group called Tough Teachers that
is designed to be a group where teachers can come to for support,
advice, assistance, challenges, and changes. I want to change things
within our public school systems and put teachers back in power to
have control of their classrooms.

I need all of your help....This group is for ALL teachers not just
ones that feel they have been discriminated against. Please contact me

As teachers, we need to stand united and fight for our rights. I
went to school for 4 years to fulfill my passion to teach and now one
principal whose heart was filled with hatred blocked me from ever
teaching in SC again. So many teachers out there go through situations
like mine and other situations that are wrong and they don't know
where to go or who to turn to. I am going to be the person that you
all can come to and I am determined to dedicate my life to challenge
the school districts and school boards to make change in our public
school systems.

You see, ALL kids have the right to learn and ALL teachers have the
right to teach regardless of race, gender, religion, etc.....I am so
proud of all of you who chose to dedicate your lives to teaching, for
an education is the best gift that you could ever give to someone and
it takes special people to give that gift. You all should be extremely
proud of yourselves and never forget that teachers deserve rights.....

I don't understand how she was blocked FROM EVER TEACHING IN SOUTH CAROLINA again.

I'm not questioning her honesty, just that I must have missed something!

And if you're being blocked from public school, maybe it's not such a bad thing. why not try teaching privately, instead of playing prison guard to a bunch lifelong childcare brats.

Very insightful as far as the multi-culturism movement is concerned.

In the 80's in Florida, the public education system began "magnet" programs geared toward specific studies for all grade levels.

The "magnets" were located inside existing schools, small numbers of children were chosen to attend and the magnets were located in predominately poor, black areas.

The children residing in the area were prohibited from entry into these "magnets" as that was their purpose, drawing from outside the school boundaries.

They were completely and totally multi-cultural in nature.

As a parent, I understood the discontent of those who lived in the neighborhood and whose children were not afforded the opportunity to attend one of these programs.

In many cases, the children who were chosen for the magnets even as young as 1st grade were interviewed and had to test in the "gifted" range.

The downside, of course, is that those who attended these magnets were not going to school with neighborhood children.

However, the public education system in Florida is a joke and back in the 80's, parents were looking for an alternative besides private school.
