What are they doing in this pic?

Anyone have an idea what is going on in this pic, These helicopters and plane flew the exact same flight path over my house 6 days in a row,

look close and you see the trailing helicopter has a device on top of it above the rotor that he is keeping in the contrail. thanks for any advice. i have like 5 or 6 photos of this Click link below thanks again
