The video in the article posted below claims that the Harry Potter series of books and movies is leading our children into things such as sorcery, curses, black magic, demon possession, witchcraft and satanism:

What is your opinion about the material the video presents? Should we let our kids read and watch Harry Potter?

Harry Potter is just the modern commercialised equivalent of old fairy tales like Hanzel and Gretl or Cinderella. Those were also full of magic and go back many centuries. It's quite absurd to accuse Rowling of anything but writing commercial children's books.

Alright i hate these people that come forward and link together things.
All these years they say, "kids don't read enough"
so what happens???
kids finally get a book they love and these people are pissed at the material!!!
theres no pleaseing these people!!!

and that little girl on the video less than half way in she says she wants to make a horrible spell so that the revenge can start...and they blame the book?!?!?!
maybe she wants revenge because our schools have become warzzones and kids don't feel safe anymore...

and with this same sense in mind can't i blame the bible or the Passion of the Christ for making me want to crucify people???
can't i blame the Crusades for making me want to go and kill millions of people just cause of the way they think???

All i'm saying is these things have nothing to do with each other...

No it doesn't. It pretty much confirms what I said, although it was put in different words.

You seem to have a problem with reading what a person is actually writing.

i agree with you eyesOnnly,allow your kids to read Harry Potter coz it will improve their vocabulary and instead of spending their time outside your house, isnt it good that your child is busy in reading a book.

I've been reading harry Potter, and so far i havent seen anything why should disallow the youngster to read it. If you think that your child believes in sorcery, dark magic, so where is parental guidance? As a parent, you are held responsible to open your kids into a wider perspective. Read Harry potter with your child and explain to him or her that the story is only a fictional one

Well hmmm we could let children read Harry Potter, or just wait till they are teens and start reading Aleister Crowley, Golden Dawn, or any other books they can find at any Borders....in the end censorship is no substitution for good parenting.
