A List of God's Attributes

God is the the eternal Father of the world. We marvel at His creation and wonder, what is God really like. As we review the Bible, we compile a list of His characteristics, attributes, and traits.

We find that God is not each of these things at some point in time. He does not exercise this trait, then that one, as we do, to the exclusion of others. We, for example, forget about love when we are angry. Not so with God.

God is 100% of all these traits all the time.

Consider this list carefully. Some of these God has been gracious enough to share with us. Others are reserved solely for Himself. We should do our best to use those He has shared to the fullest of our ability. A Classification of the attributes God shares here.

We must remember, and understand, that our goal is to become more Christ-like. This means moving closer to the attribues and characteristics of God, as displayed in Jesus Christ. In one sense, it means moving closer to those attributes listed above that God shares with us. In another sense, becoming Christ-like is nothing more than exercising the fruits of the Spirit.


Galatians 5:22-23 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. NKJV
