It was clearly a "show" of power on the part of local government today in New Orleans when city officials held a news conference and stated that their police officers and border patrol were conducting the house to house evacuation proceedings!!

Clearly, they have an Emergency Management Director and he/she should bear responsiblity for not following the "guidelines" for evacuation of poor, needy, elderly and sick in the event of a hurricane.

It is not the Mayor's job alone!!!
