FREEDOM OF SPEECH

My freedom of speech
was stripped away
when through my poetry
I tried to say

what was going on
in second grade

all it brought
was to my knees
a beg, a bargain
and a plea

don't break my arms
don't hurt my wrists
I know that now
I must resist

the urge to write
and tell the world
what you are doing
to this little girl
