I think the most blatant and disturbing show of internet censorship was with www.raisethefist.com - The FBI raided and arrested the webmaster in his home, confiscated his computers, destroyed the hard drives, and shut down the site. One of the users had some sort of 'spider mirror' on it, so most of the site was retrieved, but its functionality has dissolved.
