I don't know how much they actually think they are fighting eachother - they could just as well knowlingly play a charade for the masses. Like Skousen says, the Americans have covertly been helping the Russians all along. I wonder why...
I suspect in the end the Russians to play the ace up the sleeve the Americans didn't expect and by the time they do it's going to be too late.
