I can personally attest to control tactics and subterfuges in use in Christian churches, but the use of such things does not necessarily imply a conscious intention to manipulate. Some, sadly, are a part of church traditions. In fact, some that I witnessed seem to be products of pagan doctrine and infiltration.
There are, however, some tactics which indicate intention to deceive. One example is the practice of evangelizing by asking someone to take a "Survey". The survey starts with general questions about life and spirituality, then slowly turns to the major points of salvation. Hey, offering someone the opportunity to receive eternal life is great. Please don't turn it into a guilty charade.
