Default Vampires: Fact or Fiction?

I'm not sure how many of you have heard of Sean Manchester. He asserts that he is an ordained Catholic priest in a special division called the order of the exorcist, and as well, consequently, a vampire hunter. I don't know how much veracity there is in all of that, but basically, his whole spin on the vampire--a worldwide myth if we aren't too strict in our definition--is that instead of the creature being synonymous with some fiction we might have seen written in the Romantic period--or something we might read in Anne Rice--he likened it to a form of demonic possession that occurs at the time of death.

Here is a link to his web page, if you're interested; be warned, it's cheesy.

I'll be the first to admit, the stories don't seem to contain much verisimilitude, in my opinion anyway. But I do think that there may be room in some already accepted ecclesiastical canons for his theory as to the nature of the vampire.

What do you think? Could vampires exist by this definition? Or could they exist by any other definition, for that matter?

I am posting this because, at the least, I think it's an interesting conversation topic and hope that someone else might as well. I've always wanted to talk about what, if any, truth there may be to the stories about vampires, and it has never been a subject that, I, anyway, could bring up over dinner.

I know of no authoritative literature that addresses the topic of animation of a human body after death by an inhuman spirit. I will assume for now that it is not possible.
HOWEVER: there are many formulae in the collective Grimoires of these people that can reduce a victim's metabolism to the point of coma, etc. Then this person could be "Reborn" with an antidote and possibly be in a mind-controlled state (ala Psychic Driving) or subject to demonic oppression or even possession.
Fear of sunlight, etc., can be phobias induced by the oppressive spirits.

The drinking of blood after a terrifying death is a time-honored tradition in the Left-Hand Path and is done for the intoxicating effects of the victim's blood at the moment of death. They get high on the adrenaline and other endocrines in the blood.

That's an interesting take, Bouncer. It certainly seems possible that someone could be drugged and directed in a weakened state by several different influences. I wonder though, would those people, if alive, be vampires?

Vampires--every time I write the word, I begin to unconsciously cringe and dismiss the idea as a cross-cultural chimera, even though in light of a somewhat revised definition (or more traditional one depending on your perspective) their existence seams at least feasible.

I wonder, does anyone else do the same? Could it be part of a larger conspiracy? Is it not at least conspicuous that a variant of this legend can be found just about anywhere you look? Yet, most anyone you suggest the possibility of its existence to will automatically generate a slide response.

I don't know if anyone here puts any stock in the Annanaki myth, but maybe the concept of vampires can be tethered to a spiritual ingression by either these serpent people or demons.

Further, I wonder if the Annanaki and certain orthodox religions' definition of a demon are different names for the same thing. The physical characteristics and particularity to blood seem like a common theme.

Anyway, here is a short, three-page transcript of a conversation with Sean Manchester where he, more clearly, speaks to what a vampire might or might not be, in his opinion:

Vampires, Zombies, Werewolves, & Walk-Ins - :-o :-o :-o

Vampires, Zombies, Werewolves, & Walk-Ins
Fact or fiction,... you decide.

The Federal Vampire & Zombie Agency

Federal Vampire & Zombie Agency (FVZA),, also known as "the Vanguard," was responsible for controlling the nation's vampire and zombie populations while overseeing scientific research into the undead. This site is a tribute to the men and women who served in the FVZA, especially the over 4000 Agents who lost their lives fighting to keep our country safe. In addition to paying tribute to the FVZA, this site hopes to call attention to dangerous research being done at the Santa Rosa Institute: research that runs the risk of bringing back a scourge of vampires worse than any before.

Walk-Ins

An understanding of the dimensions is a prerequisite for clearly grasping these distinctions (see this site's excerpt from The Ra Material on the densities/dimensions). A walk-in occurs when an earth 3rd density being (what most understand as 'human') becomes overwhelmed by their life experience physically and/or emotionally, mentally, spiritually, yet are not inclined to act to end their own life. They may be contacted spiritually, most likely during 'sleep,' by a higher density being, usually 4D, who hopes to fulfill a particular mission of service to earth 3D. The 4D being then enters the body of the 3D being, and the 3D being leaves their body to heal and review their earth life before continuing on to their next chosen learning opportunity. The 4D being assumes responsibility for the life/karmic patterns/commitments of the 3D being, and also attempts to fulfill their own mission of service.

And don't let's forget the little-known realm of psychic vampires who not only can draw out and consume your aural bioectoplasmia, but also are often contracted privately through various front organizations for the purpose of !!psychic assassination and murder!!.
One example:
http://portland.indymedia.org/en/2003/03/52582.shtml
Well, don't hold your breath, 'cause I hear that they seldom have hearts, anyway.

Could this be a possible front for the PSICOM's?:

And here is a more prolific account with a scientific patina to boot:

And furthermore, some people report random discharges of psychic energy during sex . . .
[Find your own links for this one, dammit]

He needs something more robust instead of the low-fat blood.
That's what you get when you like skinny blondes . . .

Vampire Myths are rather widespread throughout history with cultures that had pretty much no contact. Much like Dragons, Flamming charriots with men from the mountains, etc. There has to be some Truth to them if anything. Studying the alternative version of Adam and Eve is a start. Where Adam and Eve where Native Americans and that Native Americans crossed the bearing straight to get to Russia/China and not the other way around. Anyway, Eve's first sin was to have slept with the man who fathered Cain who is supposed to be the first Vampire.
