RAMALLAH (Ma’an) -- Chinese Middle East envoy Wu Sike announced his country’s full support on Wednesday for the Palestinian UN bid for recognition in September.
Secretary-General of the Presidency At-Tayeb Abdul Rahim met with the Chinese envoy in the presidential headquarters in Ramallah on Wednesday.
Abdul Rahim briefed the envoy on the latest political situation in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict as Sike stated that the Chinese leadership and people support the Palestinian people and their cause.
The Palestinian UN bid does not contradict the peace process or hinder negotiations, and the fair solution is to establish a Palestinian state on 1967 borders, the Chinese envoy said.
Abdul Rahim demanded that all concerned parties, above all the United States, support the peace process and stand beside the Palestinians.
The meeting was attended by the chairman of the presidential office Hussein Al-Araj, President Abbas' political adviser Nimir Hammad, the general manager of political relations in the President’s Office Ghazi Alawna, the Chinese Ambassador to the PA and a number of Chinese diplomats.
