Forced Programming - :-o :-o :-o
Well, just like “truebeliever” just pointed out, the “Emergency Broadcast System” has been in place for years. TV “cable boxes” have the ability to allow the “Emergency Broadcast System” flow through regular programming, just like it is supposed to happen in the now-old terrestrial TV sets. The new technology being HDTV, or high-definition-TV, which instead of being an "analog" signal, it's a purely "digital" transmission -- which can travel through the air, via cable, satellite, & fiber-optics. Most new electronic equipment have the ability to remain in “stand by”, which basically keeps most of the electronics powered, while the most power consuming components are “turned off” to save power. All you have to do is add a few lines of code to “turn on” the TV screen as soon as the EBS broadcast is detected & after setting the tunner to that channel. So practically, that already exists… it’s just a matter of when & where are you going to see that for the first time.
