One to test your "knows no bounds" threshold.
Picked up last weeks New Scientist magazine today, and they say the following about H1N1 (1918 flu).
"Infected virtually everyone on the planet"
"Made about a third of them sick"
"3 Percent of whom died"
Went on to say that it was a genuine bird flu that managed to infect humans.
Yet somewhere a voice is screaming:
they've reconstructed one of the most deadly viruses of all time ! They are studying it in live mice, and at only the second highest level of containment. The people handling it are not wearing full protective suits, but merely taking antiviral drugs that may not be totally effective. If someone catches the infection, it could prove impossible to contain
Are their families, the people who handle their money at the service station, or the people who use the toilet after them given the same (probably) effective drugs.
I remember the complete lack of fuss about the Calici virus escaping a secure, quarantined are with no landborne connections a few years ago.
Is this what they plan with us and the flu ?
