Default AWB lined Saddam's pockets ?

Pointed out the other day that any such transaction went through Oz Dept of Foreign Affairs, to the U.N, back to Dept of Foreign Affairs, and then was approved.

And Fishnet Downer knew nought ?

Yeah I know an old guy in our area who used to work for the AWB in Iraq in the mid to late 80s.
A cut to Saddam was part of the cost of doing business in Iraq.
He also said Iraq was virtually crime free the people were well feed and fairly rich, medical care and university education was free to all, inclueding women who also didnt have to suffer the burka, by the sounds of it a lot better than the situation here.
Not much is said about the chemicle weapons and sat targeting the Americans provided Saddam during the Kurdish uprisings.
America put the man there to begin with.

I feel sorry for the AWB. Like you say...thats how you do business i Iraq. U.S trade interests are being set up. They want to get rid of the Oz wheat board.
