Ellipsis Έλλειψις (plural: ellipses ελλείψεις, Greek for "omission") in linguistics refers to any omitted part of speech that is understood; i.e. the omission is intentional. Analogously, in printing and writing, the term refers to the row of three dots (...) or asterisks (* * *) indicating such an intentional omission. This punctuation mark is also called a suspension point, points of ellipsis, periods of ellipsis, or colloquially, dot-dot-dot.

An ellipsis is sometimes used to indicate a pause in speech, an unfinished thought or, at the end of a sentence, a trailing off into silence (aposiopesis). Ellipses are often used in this manner for internet chat, email, and forum posts.

Why this level of curiosity?

Those who such comments are intended for will understand them. All that matters.

It is all really very simple. Were I communicating to you I would be more forthcoming and precise.

Just not sure what you're getting at or why this many ongoing questions.

You asked, "what are you intentionally omitting?" and my response would have to be "absolutely nothing!"

Cheers, Spectre

Just wondering what three dots mean. That's all. People normally post comments that include text. You know, something that can be read and understood.

If you MUST know... I had duplicate entries and since the delete feature is not enabled to us, I
changed it how I saw fit...

Oh, okay. That clears that up. Ask a simple question and receive a simple answer.

Thank you.

My intention is not to be vague in anyway. If you look through this thread, you will see a number of questions directed at me, by you, and I didn't want to answer for myself yet again. Your point is taken however... a simple answer for a simple question.
