Panhandler/Beggar Conspiracy ?

Post your view on panhandlers/beggars here.
How do I handle these people?
Some don't take No for an answer.

I responded to one guy
"OK, do you have change for a
hundred dollar bill?" He didn't.

I told another, "yes I have change and
you ain't gettin any."

Most seem able-bodied to me.

On the other hand poor people are supposed to be helped.

There are an army of these beggars
here in Vancouver. They're everywhere.

I gave one guy $10.00 and he ran off.
My friends told me that's because he ran
off to buy drugs.

Tourism now being negatively affected,
because pandhandlers harrass everyone.

They wouldn't be doing it if it didn't pay. A recent encounter was in a major city... an older man wearing dark clothing, wearing "black" sunglasses, a top hap, carrying a cane in one hand and a black box in the other. This box just had a slot for people to put money into. I watched him take off his disguise and use the money to do come grocery shopping. He wasn't blind at all. I was surprised by my own reaction. I wasn't angry. He went through all the trouble to come up with a gimmick that worked. I knew it was obviously wrong but I just laughed.
