There were some very bad fires near here around 3 weeks ago, but they've gone.

Victoria and Tasmania are suffering badly at present, with quite a few homes lost.

Politicians pandering to greenies, and not allowing hazard reduction burns in the cooler months are the primary cause (worst drought in 1000 years doesn't help either). Then the politicians get the kudos for hiring in sky cranes to put the fires out.
