I'm not a mason even though bltonwhite thinks so. But "God we trust" is refering to the money it's printed on. :-P int:  :-o ops: 8-) :hammer:

Found this conclusion here - This topic seems to be a bit of a hot potato.
And not being from America, it's not a subject I'd like to give a personal comment on.
In God we trust, all others pay cash!
This brief history of the paths by which the national motto, "In God We Trust", was born and caused to be placed on our paper currency and coins and the words "under God" were added to the Pledge of Allegiance demonstrates that these actions were never approved by the mass of the American people but were the result of opportunistic actions of, by and large, two religious fanatics acting 90 years apart. But James Pollock and Matthew Rothert could only accomplish these acts with the inadvertent help of Theodore Roosevelt and the acquiescence of many government officials and elected representatives who forgot that they were charged with upholding and defending the Constitution of the United States. What can be done about this situation? For the present, perhaps, nothing, but we can still correct the false ideas that many persons hold that "In God We Trust" has "been on our money since year 1" and that the presence of the motto indicates that we are a Christian nation and thus the mass of us should accommodate Christians when they seek to override the Constitution. Then perhaps someday we can restore the proper motto for our diverse nation, E Pluribus Unum, to its rightful place as emblematic of American democracy.
On the aluminum cap atop the Washington Monument in Washington DC are two words: Laus Deo. No one can see these words. In fact ... most visitors to the monument have no idea they are even there and ... for that matter ... probably could care less! But there they are ... 555 feet, 5.125 inches high ... perched atop the monument to the father of our nation ... overlooking the 69 square miles which comprise the District of Columbia ... capital of the United States of America.
Laus Deo! Two seemingly insignificant, unnoticed words ...out of sight and, one might think, out of mind ... but very meaningfully placed at the highest point over what is the most powerful city in the world. And what might those two words ... comprised of just four syllables and only seven letters ... mean? Very simply ... "Praise be to God!"
Though construction of this giant obelisk began in 1848 when James Polk was President of the United States, it was not until 1888 that the monument was inaugurated and opened to the public. It took twenty five years to finally cap the memorial with the tribute Laus Deo! Praise be to God!
From atop this magnificent granite and marble structure ... a visitor can take in the beautiful panoramic view of the city with its division into four major segments. And from that vantage point one can also easily see the original plan of the designer, Pierre Charles l'Enfant ... a perfect cross imposed upon the landscape ... with the White House to the north ... the Jefferson Memorial to the south ... the Capitol to the east ... and the Lincoln Memorial to the west. A cross ... you say? How interesting! And ... no doubt ... intended to carry a meaning for those who bother to notice. Praise be to God!
Within the monument itself are 898 steps and 50 landings. As one climbs the steps and pauses at the landings the memorial stones share a message. On the 12th Landing is a prayer offered by the City of Baltimore; on the 20th is a memorial presented by some Chinese Christians; on the 24th a presentation made by Sunday School children from New York and Philadelphia quoting Proverbs 10:7, Luke 18:16 and Proverbs 22:6. Praise be to God!
When the cornerstone of the Washington Monument was laid on July 4th, 1848 deposited within it were many items including the Holy Bible presented by the Bible Society. Praise be to God! Such was the discipline, the moral direction, the spiritual mood given by the founder and first President of our unique democracy ... "one nation, under God." I am awed by Washington's prayer for America. Have you never read it? Well now is your opportunity ... read on!
"Almighty God; We make our earnest prayer that Thou wilt keep the United States in Thy holy protection; that Thou wilt incline the hearts of the citizens to cultivate a spirit of subordination and obedience to government; and entertain a brotherly affection and love for one another and for their fellow citizens of the United states at large." "And finally that Thou wilt most graciously be pleased to dispose us all to do justice, to love mercy, and to demean ourselves with that charity, humility, and pacific temper of mind which were the characteristics of the Divine Author of our blessed religion, and without a humble imitation of whose example in these things we can never hope to be a happy nation. Grant our supplication, we beseech Thee, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen." Laus Deo!
As you might have guessed ... I kind of like the idea that our Pledge of Allegiance includes the phrase "under God." It is clear when one studies the history of our great nation that Washington's America was one of the few countries in all the world established under the guidance, direction and banner of Almighty God, to whom was given all praise, honor and worship by the great men who formed and fashioned her pivotal foundations.
"And I have the right to feel so about you all, because I have you in my heart, all of you . . . For God is my witness how I long for you all in the heart of Christ Jesus." (Phil 1: 7-8)
The god in "In God we trust" stands for the one god of all the people, not Jesus or money but God, the Lord of the universe.
Regardless of Satan's motives, God controls the overall plan and He has delivered us a prophecy that America will be the first country to embrace "Submission" the true religion, and from there it will spread around the world.
This is why the strongest currency in the world has the motto 'In God we trust', no coincidence.
[64:13] GOD: there is no other god besides Him. In GOD the believers shall trust.
Folks, I'll have to go into the archives of our local newspaper and get the editorial section. A local resident had responded to a topic in regards to the government, money, secret organizations,etc...and mentioned the meaning of GOD on the currency.
NO! It is NOT the God that you go to church to worship!!!!
Please Ahmad!! Something tells me you know this!!
GOD is the faith, trust, even obedience to MONEY!!! that the people acknowledge. The PEOPLE who put the GOD on money in the first place. And the people who continue to serve it!! There are so many 'secret' little reasons for different things out there, that I wish THEY would stop bullshitting the peoples.
They play this little game of "two, two, two mints in one!" ,-- "two sides to the coin",-- "double-edged sword", --"both sides of the mouth" ----so that the common people are looked upon as such idiots!!
Like I've said before, I have my attention on community affairs, and the treatment of your average working class people, and I gotta tell you, I don't care if you make $5,000 a year or
$50,000 a year----you are shit in their eyes.
If you make a million or so, then maybe you'll be invited 'IN'.
With this new pope, something tells me we are now going to 'see things' from 'THEM' on quicker time frame. They've dilly-dallyed some, but not for long.
Keep alert. Be aware.
I was raised a catholic, however, I have not stepped into a church for years. All I saw, besides other things, was hypocrisy, an a superficial front, for an organization, that according to the way I was taught, would infuriate Christ again, just as he did during his life. I don’t understand how can so much poverty go unnoticed, when the Vatican has so much gold & so much wealth. Another thing is to sit side by side w/ gov officials that declare war on civilizations that have not done anything evil to us, except may be live on top of massive oil reserves. I do believe however, that God does not intervene in the affairs of men, even if we get to the point of near destruction, it does not mean that God does not exist. Part of the plan is for each individual soul to grow into spirit. These are lessons for us to grow upon.
As Christ was a rebel then, he would be one now. He didn’t take their side. And he would be killed again by the same people. People that incarnate the character of Christ are still being killed today.
I don’t buy their bullshit for 1 second…
You know good when someone does good. You know evil when someone does evil. And I haven’t seen any good being done by anyone for a long time… except by those who have sacrificed their own lives, as for example, Rachel Corrie, Marla Ruzicka, & many others who have been literally “crucified”... These are the true “Angels” among us...
The Real American
This obviously does not include those who kill others. Christ would have never killed anyone… not even his enemies. However, I am not passing judgement on anyone. Besides the fact that I am no saint, & am a sinner just like everybody else. That’s not my job (to judge), & if you need forgiveness, you need to get it directly from God. No man is an intermediary... & like Henry Makow said it, “Most of us are closer to insects than to God,”

This is a wrong idea Jimbo. Eventhough God doesn't intervene in our choices, He does in our actions.
For example, do you think anything you plan happens? why somethings don't happen? because of God's intervention.
Everything is controlled and happens only if it coincides with God's master plan.
So what is this plan? God LEADS ON the transgressors, who are blinded by money and power to commit the most hineous acts, untill they reach a point in transgression that incurs them the retribution.
Like Sodom and Gommorah, they followed the steps of Satan, from dirty jokes to adultery to homosexuality untill it became the dominant culture of the city, when that point was reached, they incured their requital instantaneously.
What about the innocent victims they abused? in God's system, nobody is harmed unjustly, which means that every Iraqi wronged deserve his fate, some as a punishment (for forgeting God) and some as a wake up call to bring them back to God.
But the bottom line is,
[4:40] GOD does not inflict an atom's weight of injustice. On the contrary, He multiplies the reward manifold for the righteous work, and grants from Him a great recompense.
God is in full control,
[10:61] You do not get into any situation, nor do you recite any Quran, nor do you do anything, without us being witnesses thereof as you do it. Not even an atom's weight is out of your Lord's control, be it in the heavens or the earth. Nor is there anything smaller than an atom, or larger, that is not recorded in a profound record.
Marla and Rachel were the victors, they are now in a much better place, as for the murderers they have incured the requital, we will all witness that very soon God willing.
